“The Future of Medical Care” on WRFR and Symposium Wednesday, March 22
On Wednesday, March 22, the future of medical care will be the topic of the Rockland Metro show on WRFR, 93.3 fm in Rockland and 99.3 fm in Camden. The Metro team will be joined by Paul Klainer M.D. in a broadcast discussion from 5 to 6 pm. The conversation will continue afterwards at a dinner symposium, to which the public is invited.
Dr. Klainer is the founder and director of the Knox County Health Clinic, an independent, non-profit, founded in 1999. The clinic provides medical, behavioral health, prescription assistance and dental services to the area's uninsured. Dr. Klainer is a member of the board and of the planning committee of the Coastal Healthcare Alliance, and is the chairperson of the PenBay Healthcare Quality committee.
Topic to be covered in the discussion will include the potential effects of the legislation now being discussed in Congress, the ongoing steep decline of independent medical practices around the country and here in Knox County, and the trend toward hospital mergers and centralization.
Listeners will be invited to call in to the show with questions and comments. The number to call is 593-0013. The dinner symposium following the show is free and open to the public. Seating at the round table is limited to twelve, so participants must reserve their place in advance. Participants must also be ready to help: the dinner is prepared and served, and the dishes washed, in collaboration. To reserve a place at the table, interested persons are invited to contact Robert Lichtman: firstname.lastname@example.org
