Community Calendar Submissions

Email community calendar listings to press@wrfr.org.

Required information:

  • Who is hosting the event?

  • What is the name of the event?

  • Where is the event (full address)?

  • When is the event?

  • Why is the event happening/What is the event?

  • How can listeners attend? Example: does the listener need to RSVP or buy tickets?

Required format:

  • The text of the announcement should be in the body of the email, not as a separate attached document.

  • For the online listing: pictures and photos should be .png or .jpg format. Please do not send PDF files.

  • Have the announcement print-ready! We do not edit or try to fill in missing information. If it incomplete, it will not go on the air or the website.

Make your listing community radio-friendly!

  • Think about what it would sound like read out loud on the radio.

  • Remove calls to action and prices (it is ok to say if an event is free):

    • INCORRECT: “Come to the second annual…”

    • CORRECT: “____invites you to join the 2nd annual…”

    • INCORRECT: “Buy your tickets now at….” or “tickets are $45 and available at…”

    • CORRECT: “For more information and tickets, go to…”

  • Write in the third person, not the first person:

    • INCORRECT: “We invite you to join us for…”

    • CORRECT: “_____ invites the community to join it for…”

Maine Coast Heritage Trust will host a free timber frame joinery workshop from 9 am-noon on June 18th at Erikson Fields Preserve in Rockport. Ryan Twisla, a local timber framer and sustainable builder, will demonstrate cutting joinery, discuss tools for the job, and invite attendees to try their hand at it. Registration is free. ROCKPORT – Maine Coast Heritage Trust, a statewide land conservation organization, will host a free timber frame joinery workshop from 9am to noon on Saturday, June 18th at Erikson Fields Preserve, 164 West St, Rockport. Ryan Twisla, a local timber framer and sustainable builder, will demonstrate cutting joinery, discuss tools for the job, and invite attendees to try their hand at it. Twisla will explain the function of different types of joints and timbers in the frame of the barn to be built at Erikson Fields.
